Michael has over 16 years of experience in practicing and studying mindfulness meditation. He has taught meditation in a range of contexts and, as well as directing the School of Mindfulness, currently runs regular mindfulness sessions for staff, researchers and medical students in a Russell Group University in the North of England.
He has also taught in Higher Education as a teacher educator for almost ten years, and has recently been awarded the status of Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy.. He is currently a Teaching Fellow in Medical Education; a role which involves the development of the teaching practice of healthcare professionals studying at Masters level. He is also currently researching the relationship between mindfulness and resilience.
After completing the 8-week course in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), he has pursued mindfulness teacher training with Mindfulness CIC in Leicestershire, with whom he is on a teaching supervision programme.
He holds a degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Education. He has taught philosophy and critical thinking at A-level, as well as GCSE religious studies.
He has a passion for developing teaching practice, and a deep interest in the pedagogy of mindfulness teaching.
