In this course you will explore the science and theory that underpins mindfulness and will develop the tools and techniques to cultivate your own personal practice. Suitable for beginners and experienced.
The course will be held via Zoom and will be led by Michael Atkinson, Director of School of Mindfulness.

MINDFULNESS-BASED MENTAL FITNESS
Designed for organisations as well as individuals this new course aims to equip you with the tools to strengthen your mind using mindfulness-based practices. Over the 6 weeks we will focus on developing resilience, emotional regulation, attentional control, mindful awareness, as well explore techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.

4 WEEK COURSE DETAILS
In this course you will explore how to maintain and enhance positive mental health through mindfulness practice. Suitable for beginners and experienced.
What is mindfulness?
Working with the critical mind
Enhancing well-being through kindness and compassion
Working with challenging emotions
Nurturing a postive outlook
Integrating mindfulness into everyday life
In each session we will introduce you to a range of mindfulness techniques that you can practice in your daily life. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions, share and discuss your experiences, as well as explore the key teachings that underpin the mindfulness practices. Please note that this is a secular course, although some teachings from a variety of traditions will be included.
In week 1 we will explore the nature of thoughts and how we can skilfully work with them through mindfulness meditation to bring clarity and equanimity to the mind.
In week 2 we will explore the teachings and techniques that can help us to cultivate greater openness, kindness and compassion towards ourselves and others.
In week 3 we will explore the how mindfulness can help us to alleviate stress and anxiety, and cultivate enhanced well-being and resilience.
In week 4 we will look at how to effectively integrate mindfulness into our everyday lives, and how to establish a regular routine of mindfulness practice.
All participants will receive a course booklet which will include practice and reflection exercises to do at home each week, and will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion.
